"Classic & Sports Car", probably the best historic auto monthly around, ran their 'Best of the Century' contest for most of last year. They took votes from their reading public, at car events here and abroad, and amongst their staff. And the winner is; "the MINI"! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Its a British magazine so I'm not surprised at the conclusion. Nevertheless, I agree with them. It was intoduced in 1959 and is still being produced. Outlived the Beetle. First car with front wheel drive and transverse engine. Was the design basis for virtually every compact hatch-back produced since 1959. If you want to see the mini in full flight check out the movie "The Italian Job". |
