My sister bought one of these to use in the back of her pickup with a camper shell. During the first two hours she used it she got an overpower burnt metallic smell that gave her a headache. Hoping that the smell would only last a few minutes, she had all the windows open to air it out while it was on -- defeating the purpose of the heater completely. She ended up turning it off after two hours of this overpowering smell and returned the item to the store. I strongly recommend to any one who buys one of these to set it up in a well ventilated area outside during the first use and give it a good burn in period. You can also use this burn in period to access for yourself if you are sensitive to any of its operation. By the way, I think the instructions say not to use this heater while you sleep--probably for fire safety sake but who knows what else they may also be worried about.
