Subject: '90 Westy watertank gauge shot
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello vanagoneers,

My new '90 Westy has the following defect: the rod that goes inside the potable water tank always gives the 'full' signal (top green led is lit on the kitchen-mounted control panel).

It looks to be a sealed unit. When I take it out of the tank, and move the floating device up and down the rod, the green led remains lit, unless I bend the rod a bit - I can then SOMETIMES get a better result: upon moving the floater 'down' the rod, successively the yellow and red led come on. Flickeringly.

So I'm pretty sure the control panel is ok and the rod is bust. Can I fix this, or do I need to get a new one? How much are they?

(My '84 Westy has a simpler setup: it only has three metal contacts fixed in the side of the tank. These have never failed me).

Thanks for any help
