Hello,

I had the swap done in May by a local shop, Bullard in Independence, Missouri. They work on imports and Scott is probably the best VW mechanic I have ever met (mind you, I lived in Germany for over 30 years and my family always drove VWs). I have had hot start problems too, but a new relay and starter took care of it. I assume they were leftovers from a rather tired (230 000 miles)Westy. Anyway, after almost 15 000 miles with the conversion I can only state that I love the cruising speed 85 -90 mph, 70 mph in third gear, and the top speed (I had the Westy up to 100mph trying to avoid an annoying trucker who was playing catch with me i.e. tailgating and not letting me pass etc.) The droning is a slight problem around 3800 rpm. Other than that, I am happy with it. Can't wait to put a different camshaft into the motor. Cheers, Hermann de Boer
