I removed the interior panel, hooked some heavy gauge wire to the internal relaease mechanism so that when the wire is pulled it unlatches the hatch. Fed this wire thru a small opening in the panel i removed and attached a pull ring. Now to open the rear hatch from the inside, simply pull the ring to the side and the hatch pops open. very simple.
