I met someone last year with a 90 GL (I have a habit of going up to strangers who own vanagons especially westys and meet them) who was going to rip out his 2.1L wasserleaker and put in a Porsche engine. I asked him why and he said that there was no comparison to make. That the Porsche engine outperforms the wasserleaker hands down. I asked what is he gonna do about heat seeing how we were in Montana. Didn't seem to be concerned. Said his brother was a mechanic in Germany and that he gets these engines dirt cheap. His brother was planning on moving to Montana and setting up a business. One of his expertise was Porsche engines. I mentioned this list and he said he would check it out. I was planning on meeting up with him later, but I relocated out of the area.
