And just how could the acquisition of a 411 or 412 stop the house purchase. What do they cost, $250 or so?

But seriously, it was my neighbors purchase of a '71 411 Station Wagon that cemented me with VWs--I loved that car, but what a mechanical mess it was! I remember riding in it when I was 13 thinking, "are you supposed to feel the shift of an automatic transmission?"
