The Vanagon's Digitfant system will run an inline four engine designed for
Digifant II - the one problem that you will have with an RV or PF engine
from a Golf or Jetta is the ignotion timing of the Vanagon's Digifant
system does not incorporate a knock sensor and it will not work with a
Digifant II distributor. You would need a CIS based distributor from
something like an 81 thru 84 Rabbit that has a vacuum advance. I would
suggest getting a 8.5:1 cr Digifant engine from a Cabriolet or Fox if you
go this route.
