The one in the photo on Vanagon.com was made by ASI, the same company that made the "straight up" conversion for the last version of the VW bus and usually referred to as the "Riviera Conversion." Riviera Motors was (is?) in Portland, OR, and had these conversions done and distributed them. Only a few Vanagons were converted. I looked seriously at one of these back in '86 when I bought my '84 Westy, and it was a good conversion, but overall quality on the Westy was better. The one I looked at was owned by a traveling insurance salesman who basically lived in it, and he was, unfortunately, a heavy smoker. The entire inside was coated with cigarette tar, I don't think it could have ever been cleaned out! ASI continued for awhile to do American van conversions but is no longer in business. -- Stuart MacMillan Manager, Case Program 800-909-8244 ext 208 Getting your share of the Net yet? http://www.cobaltgroup.com http://www.casedealer.com/demo http://www.caseihdealer.com/demo |
