There was a big fuss this fall when the Mexican government announced they would require a $400-$800 deposit (depending upon year of car) in CASH when crossing into Mexico. Yes, cash money. This would have meant you had to exit via the exact border crossing where you entered. Senators from the border states threw a fit, people complained and boycotted and shortly after implementing the plan, the Mexican government backed off. Now (as before) pay about $11 and they take your credit card info. However, I'd check with a mexican consulate before heading south just to make sure. Doug Demarest Minneapolis, MN
