To be honest, I dont know. I do know that chipped engines get more fuel, thus making more power, and also generatig more heat. I have seen pictures of pistons where a melt down had happened. The engine was an Audi/VW 1,9 TDI 90 hp, which had been chipped to 145 hp. The piston was ugly, and it melted because of excessive heat. Clearly, this must show on the exhaust temps.
