Subject: Taste this..: Fuel Leak
Comments: To: "arbosch@RA.ROCKWELL.COM" <arbosch@RA.ROCKWELL.COM>

I have a relative who started/owns a Dry Cleaners/Laundry back in the '60's.

He had this weird habit of testing the heat of things (clothing presses, steam fittings, etc.) by licking his pinkie finger, and swiping the surface of the hot item. From a "physics" standpoint, it isn't all that dumb, since it works the same way as walking on hot coals: the water (on his finger) boils next to the item, but protects the skin from a burn. So I thought he was pretty smart, except that the skin on his pinkie was the texture of cowhide. Gross.

He was also a "taste-tester" for a number of years, until a powerful dry-cleaning chemical left him without the sense of taste for a month or two. Cured that little idiosyncrasy.

Not to put too fine a point on tasting the fluids to determine origin, but I'm wondering if you'd continue to taste test if, after your sampling, you found the puddle to be from the port-o-potty...? Yech! Just the thought makes my skin crawl...

As for the fuel leak, you probably have a cracked hose from the fuel tank or at the fuel pump, depending on where in the middle of the bus your talking about.
