Melissa-

The EGR fix isn't as straight-forward as the OXSensor. The lamp basically
indicates (Like the OXS light) that a certain number of miles have elapsed,
and the ERG is likely to need service. Unfortunately, the EGR service isn't
a 10 minute job, and some of the parts are NLA at the dealer (the EGR
filter for example).The EGR is very important to lowering emissions, and
(at least in the case of the Air-cooled motor) helps keep the cylinder-head
temps lower by lowering the overall temperature of combustion.

The most common fault I has seen in this system is the occlusion (or
eventual blockage) of the distribution pipes, and the blockage of the
valve. In particular, the small distribution pipes inside the central
intake plenum become blocked with carbon. It is reparable, but takes a
little effort.

Hi Matthew!

How does this relate to our air-cooled EGR indicator lights?  My Haynes
manual says nothing.  I reset my switch just before putting my van into
storage last month. What do I need to do when I retrieve her in March?
