Reset is easy.

Realize, however that VW is a cheapskate company, and they don't spend money on flashing dash lights to entertain themselves. The OXS light warns you that the usage interval for an important "wear" part has expired. Resetting the light does nothing toward replacing the part of your fuel injection system that is worn out. You can expect decreased mileage, increased emissions, unpredictable performance (poor idle, stumbling, poor acceleration), and the onset of more serious motor problems until you replace your Oxygen sensor, (about $125).

Resetting the OXS light: under your van, follow the speedometer cable from the left front wheel, up toward the point where it enters the dash. You will find a black box, about 2" square. On that box is a white plastic button in a little recess. Push that button in firmly until you hear an audible "CLICK". You've just reset the interval for a new OXS.

The blinking light you describe is behind your temperature gauge, not your fuel gauge. Double check that owner' manual. And you better head to the gas station, because I bet you don't have half a tank, like you thought.

Hi,

Does anyone know a way to reset the OS2 light indicator on the dashboard? I don't want to just pull the bulb.

Speaking of lights...can anyone tell me what the blinking red light behind my fuel gage is for? It comes on blinking at start up and goes out after a few seconds. Is it a fuel pump indicator? The only light i'm familiar with like that is the glow plug on the deisel engines, of which this is not. I find no reference to this light in the OM.

Thanks for your help.
