Subject: 86 Vanagon Running Fast / Died Restarted
Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi All,

I have an 86 Vanagon (automatic) that is acting strangely as of last night. My son was driving it last night and said it died while he was accelerating... twice. This morning I got about 1/2 mile from home and it just died, tach goes to zip and thats it! I restarted it with no problem and haven't had a problem since.

Another thing possibly either related to this or to my newfound paranoia that my ride may be getting a little inconsistent.... ;> the Vanagon seems to be running fast, as in RPMs to my actual speed. At 60 mph the engine is spinning at 3600rpm and at 70 I am running at 4200. It seems the engine is working harder to the whole family.

Does anyone have some things that I can look at or suggest a psych doc up here in the Seattle area? I'd appreciate any help!

David
