Look under the left front wheel for the speedo cable. There's a box in the middle of it, and there's a protrusion on the box which is actually a shrouded pushbutton. Get something thin and push the button in until it clicks. Then replace your Oxygen Sensor, if you believe VW knew what it was talking about when it put in the light.

Uh...that would be your *other* fuel gauge, the one that tells how hot the motor is. The blinking light is an overheat indicator and it comes on for a few seconds as a test when you start the engine.
