With a bit of work you can install a 1986 GTI tach in a 84 Vanagon as it
would be with an 84 Vanagon tach in an 88 - there are some differences
between the 84 Van and 88 that make it a non-plug and play event.  It I had
it in front of me I could make it all work, but for the average guy this
would not be the case...
