And this reminds me of the college professor trying to teach the students something about scientific observation and observing in detail, and he pointed out that sight, smell, and taste are often good methods to gather solid information.

He gave each student a small plastic urine specimen container, and had each in turn do his duty. When each student was back to his/her desk, he picked up his own sample and instructed the students to follow his example. He dipped his forefinger into the urine sample, extracted it and promptly put his middle finger in his mouth.

There was great gagging and coughing as half the class followed, putting their urine-wet forefingers in their mouths.
