Subject: Clutch trouble in cold weather??
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi gang,

I turn to the list, again, for its wisdom.

The weather turned cold here in Toronto yesterday --- dropping to -15 Celsius (around 0 Fahrenheit). When I went to start my 84 Westy after work the clutch refused to disengage. Started the van, put it in geat and the van would move before I let off the clutch. I checked underneath for leaks --- found none. So I waited for the van to get good and warm and then found that the clutch was OK. Can anyone explain this and suggest a fix. I rather foggily understand that there is (hydraulic??) fluid in the clutch and that perhaps the grade is wrong for these temps. This is the first cold weather since I've owned the van.

Yes, I know that for some of you -15 degrees is positively tropical.

Cheers, Doug '84 westy Toronto, Canada
