Subject: New pre-turbo EGT measurements.
Comments: To: diesel@vwfans.com

I've relocated the EGT probe pre-turbo in my Diesel Westy. Best place I found to put ir is from the under side in the exhaus manifild so the the sensor sticks in slightly diagonally into the turbo inlet.

One concern I had is that the probe takes up a fair bit of area. The turbo inlet is about 40x40mm and the probe is 6mm diam and protrudes 30 mm in so it blocks about 10%. Any thoughts about this? I angled it with the flow a bit, but ideally I would like to withdraw it 10-20mm. Any thoughts?

Some measurements on flat ground are:

Driving Boost EGT Condition ------------------------------------- Idle: 0 Bar 100C 20Mph .2Bar 125-150C 40Mph .4Bar 200C 60Mph .7Bar 350C <- Waste gate starts to open 80Mph .8Bar 550C <- Waste gate open

Next step will be to put the intercooler back in and repeat measurements.
