Been reading lately all these economy claims, problems etc. Mine seems to be stuck at 10 mpg. It sat for about a year before I purchased it, so I tuned it up, ( plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter) just because I knew the lad I got it from, was not Mr. mainteinance. It ran a little raggy so I ran a couple of bottles of gumout through it when I filled it up, and that seemed to iron out the rough idle, and hesitation on acceleration. It will die when I start it , if I don't let it warm up for a couple of minutes, but other than that it really surprised me how smooth it runs for an engine with 160,000 miles on it. However it doesn't want to pass up a gas station. Any ideas? Also, where should the water temp. gauge start. On the bottom or the top? This one starts on the bottom in the broadest band of white. Seems to be backwards. Thanks, Terry |
