For cold weather starts, I use 3 techniques. 1. Use a synthetic oil, 5w-30 or 5w-50 (Castrol syntec is my choice.) 2. Put a battery trickle charger on overnight. 3. A dipstick tube heater will keep the oil sump warm. I have an old unit I received from another Listee. I am not sure where they are currently available, but I do recall seeing them for sale in years past. The regular block heater will not fit on the Syncro, or else it would be a better choice than the dipstick heater, which should be removed and the regular dipstick installed prior to startup. It seems to me that the Alaska contingent and those in Northern Canada should have some helpful hints on this topic. How about it, Listees?
