Dear List,
This past Saturday, I dropped "Sunny" off at Amesbury Foreign Motors (Amesbury MA) to have a TDi transplant. Dennis Gagnon (the owner) expects it to be "done" in 2 months. So I'm hoping for a mid-March test drive!
One of the things I could use is the collective wisdom of the list:
I plan on installing a Spearco #2-252-B air/liquid intercooler in place of the stock VW air/air intercooler. This will significantly reduce the friction "losses" inherent in long intercooler plumbing runs with lots of 90 degree bends. (the Spearco unit will sit on the driver's side of the engine adjacent to and only inches from the outlet from the turbocharger and the inlet to the intake manifold).
What I need is a MINI-RADIATOR! Something that will fit in the space behind the passenger-side rear brake light. Air will be forced through this opening via a squirrel-cage blower. Does anyone know of an appropriate motorcycle radiator that will fit that space? Any sources for custom-built radiators? NOTE 1: an excellent overview of air/liquid intercooling can be found at: http://www.autospeed.com/A_0090/P_1/article.html
NOTE 2: Spearco can be found at: http://www.spearcointercoolers.com/
NOTE 3: I also plan on chipping the ecu in phase 2 with a Wetterauer chip. See: http://www.chip-tuning.com/usa/main/mainmenu.html
Cheers,
