I love my Vanagon, but mainly for its interior space and its driving feel. This has little to do with the engine. To me the engine is a thing that makes a noise when I turn the key and stops making it when I turn it off. So long as it gets me from A to B with reasonable speed, economy and reliability, that is all I want.

All this talk about engines is bewildering, but any solution to the Wasserboxer problem has to be an installable kit that can be user-installed or taken to any local auto mechanic. From what I have learned about the conversion options so far they all leave much to be desired.

We have all heard over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over what Mr Lilley did to his van and it may well be a great solution for him, but it is not a solution that is practical for most of us to duplicate.
