Hey David, The Temp II Sensor is located in the thermostat housing (see Bentley 24.49), is a blue two pin connector which sends the ECU coolant temperature info on start-up. The sensor acts to enrich the fuel mixture for cold starting but when faulty can overly enrich even a warm engine. Inexpensive and simple to replace, sometimes they're referred to as coolant sensors or head temp sensors (?). I only happened to have one because a vendor sent me the wrong one (non-Syncro) and since it was cheap it wasn't worth sending it back. I am not a vendor nor do I have any commercial interest. Anyway what you need is part # 311 133 261A and don't forget the O-ring. Have the new one handy to replace so as not to lose too much coolant when you remove the old one. Of course your problem could also be something else. Good luck!
