If you are dead set on a Westy, and I understand that affliction, get one and do what I have done: buy a complete used engine with all the ancillaries from a list member who has done a conversion. That way you can do your own repairs by the "replacement" method very inexpensively.

Try to find one in good running condition you can get some miles out of, but even a leaker could be rebuilt at your convenience and be ready to drop in when something major goes wrong. You will also have a complete set of spares for virtually all of the engine components, including the electronics. I paid $800 for mine, well worth it.

That way your husband can get you back on the road in a day or two. Just get an AAA premium membership so you can get towed home!

The one you are looking at has low miles and is probably a good risk. How much and what kind of tranny does it have? -- Stuart MacMillan Manager, Case Program 800-909-8244 ext 208
