Ranter is correct on 2 accounts AFAIC: VW and power gizmos don't mix. My passat bought new in 92 taught me well with its power roof failure, power lock failures, and 15-20 power window failures, sometimes eating the tint too. I test drove the new jetta earlier this year and laughed when the power window stuck down. Yes...when WILL they learn to stick with what they do best(return to what they did best)? One correction to the EV comment. It's actually a vw astro, not a caravan. ;) Seriously, last month I was in the market for a people hauler. I HAD to look at a EV, but ruled it out without even a drive. Really now, how many units could they possibly move at that price...it's like they are not even trying to compete for the market. Whoever wrote recently with the rare EV sighting at a dealer, the VW dealer here in Indiana has three 99's sitting there lotrotting. I opted for a '97 Suburban 4X4 for $15G less and it carries 8 plus cargo in any weather. My admittedly anecdotal experiences with power vw crap have scarred me forever. Sorry, this hit a nerve. Jay in Indiana 84 wolfsburg westy(roll em down by hand!) 77 westy deluxe(again roll your own) 71 hightop project(keep cranking)
