Agreed. I'd love to have back all of the hours I spent futzing with points.
I love out "ignitor" ignition thing, and I love my diesel for the fact you
don't have to play with the ignition system.

Since I do have an 82 air-cooled cal model with electronic ignition, let me
say this blunt. Points suck! Nothing but a pain. And troubleshooting the
system is easy. The Bentley has a great troubleshooting guide for those of
us with the cal model air-cooled vanagon. If you have electronic ignition,
why go back in time???
