Thank you to all you volks who gave me feedback about purchasing this Vanagon. As one list member said: Listees are the wrong people to seek advice from when it comes to deciding on buying another Vanagon. He likened it to one addict seeking advice from another addict regarding the purchase of whatever substance they are addicted to.

He was right of course.

I am ashamed to say that I bought another Vanagon. Formerly an 82 Diesel GL now powered by a well worn inline-4 1.8 with solid lifters.

The seller was asking $1850. I thought that I ridiculous offer would be immediately turned down. I offered $1200. I figured that it was well worth all that just in parts alone. Well, I caught him at a vulnerable time when the fabled San Francisco Parking Control Orifices were chasing people around his block.

BenT here's my new list 82 Vanagon GL Diesel < the new guy 87 Vanagon GL 88 Fox Wagon GL 89 Jetta GL 80 Rabbit (diesel) pickup 83 323i BMW E-30 81 323i BMW E-21 72 911 Targa 76 914 (911 powered) 79 Mercedes 280TE (80 300TD is bidding goodbye to make room for the new van.
