I think these should be thought of as high beams just like in a 4-headlight system. That's how I'm going to wire mine when I finally get around to it, i.e. no extra switch (but extra relay for sure).

I'm one of the "Joel Cohen" customers (before Ken had them I think), and the extra lights Joel provided are mounted in sheet metal brackets that will perfectly pop-rivet to the sheet metal of the grille opening. They look a lot like the aux lights on the first-generation Rabbit convertibles, which I've only ever seen from a distance. I suspect they are the genuine SA setup.
