Richard you say its a fresh engine so I will point out a couple of things that come to mind first if you used the Victor reinz gaskets set it has an oil pump gasket that is thicker than the part # calls for its the same as a bug in part # but it measures .006 to .008ths thick all other gaskets in every other set bug and vanagon are .004ths thick.the thicker.008ths gasket gives you 1/2 the oil perssure when used. I have posted this to the list in the past and its worth repeating. the next thing that needs to be checked out is did the big ends of the rod get resized and new bolts if not then this could be the reason for your low oil pressure. this is covered in lenght on my web page the article is named low oil pressure at warm idle good luck Bob Donalds http://www.bostonengine.com
