These filters are W 719/5 and while they will work on a Vanagon they don't have the check valve that you need for valve clatter-free starting. These filters are really meant for Golf/Jetta gas engines. The W719/12 are the ones for the Vanagon.

The funny part is I sell these filters every day for $4.25 each (both the /5 and the /12). This guy is auctioning these off and the bid is up to $36 plus $6 shipping. So right now you would be paying $4.20 each from someone you don't know or love. Is this a deal?

Not a flame just an observation. Maybe I should start selling these in Ebay :)
