I mostly agree, BUT have built many T1 motors for off road, where grunt was necessary and even the screamers want to launch off the line. T1s can certainly be built for low end. IMHO the engineering problem here is the weight of the vanagon (and the easy way to solve it is with gears, but I have an auto). I have been thinking alot about this lately and have some ideas for the motor, so I am looking for a core longblock to do some "engineering" anyone got one laying around (dirt cheap only please)?
