Subject:   Re: VW trends and Eurospec STILL LACK POWER
Content-Type:   text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Mark Drillock asks about installing a 1.9L diesel.I did a buy/swap(for a hot T1 motor) with ForeignAide in Albuquereque (a Eurospec dealer) . I tried to get the 1.9L head but Eurospec said they didn't have any or it would cost like $500 more. One or the other depending on who you talked to and which day of the week. Anyway I accepted the 1.6L style head (with smaller valves), installed it, figured out the usual little problems that Eurospec is no help with and except for some relatively minor things am happy with the power or rather torque increase. My 1.6L was worn out and was a real dog. Driving a 82westy 2.0 aircooled felt like a turbo to me. I had always hoped to upgrade in the future to a Jetta/Quantum turbo but have heard rumors that the Eurospec 1.6L head is not turbo or even that the 1.9L head was not "turbo". I don't know and haven't really pursued an answer.I got a good deal from ForeignAide and understand they boughtout Eurospec's stock of Golf inline 4 kits if you want to go that way. Let me know if you need more help.
