Car talk had a woman call in from a commune out west somewhere a few weeks back who had trouble burning biodiesel in a Vanagon. the biodiesel worked fin in several vehicles--a John Deer Tractor and some others, maybe even a diesel rabbit...I can't exactly remember. But the biodeisel in the Vanagon kept clogging some hoses or rather fuel lines as it corroded them and they degenerated from the inside. Even when they were replaced they new lines would corrode soon after installation.

the Tappet Bros. suggested the composition of the fuel lines in the Vanagon most likely made them uncompatable with the properties of the biodiesel. They suggested the commune replace the fuel lines again and burn diesel fuel--not biodiesel.

I'm no expert. I'm just repeating what I've heard.
