I surmise that the extreme cold weather in the east has increased demand for
heating oil. Heating oil is essentially diesel fuel. The process for producing
both is the same. Therefore higher demand for heating oil has reduced the supply
of diesel fuel. With the demand for diesel fuel at the same level and supply
reduced the price increases.
