It's probably a Xenon effect bulb. I got H4 bulbs of that type in my Vanagon, it doesn't give the desired effect.

The Xenon bulbs are not like conventional bulbs. These bulbs consist of an electric arc, just like from a welder, that makes the like. To get this arc, you need a special electrical module to produce 14000 volts. Look at http://lightning.mbz.org for info.
