Just to add a little light to this subject,  there are four friction pegs;
one at each corner.  If you pry at the center of the cover, you'll break the
pegs for sure.

Use a butter knife - not a screwdriver.  slide it up under the cover and
move it over toward one of the corners.  When it stops, you're up against
one of the pegs.  Pry it a bit.  Don't try to get it all of the way out at
once.  Just loosen it a bit.  do the same for the other four corners.  Now
go back and give a bit more pressure till you've gotten all four good and
loose.  It should just about fall off into your hand now, and you've
probably only broken one or two pegs.  If you're really lucky, you've not
broken any.
