Subject: Is this behavior normal for an inner front Syncro CV joint?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

When I rotate the inner CV joint around the axle shaft, there seems to be a 'hitch' in the bearings. A hitch being a feeling of tightness or resistance to the smooth action of the bearings.

This can be felt by holding the joint with the axle vertical and swinging the axle shaft around in a circle like a 360 degree pendulum.

There does not seem to be any obvious damage to the bearings or races. There is no scoring or burnishing. Everything looks ok, but this is the first time I have had one of these in my hands and I don't know what normal is.

The technique that has been described here of tapping the axle out of the CV joint did not work for me. What did work was holding the axle shaft tightly in a large bench vise and tapping the joint off the shaft.

As always, I appreciate everyone's comments and suggestions.
