My experience with Germans, and Europeans in general, is that they tend to
follow directions much more carefully than we Americans do.  Something to do
with belief in authority or something along those lines.  We tend to stretch
the rules as much as we can, and the same goes for service intervals and
such.  Sure you can drive 10K on an oil change; Sure you can use tap water
in your coolant, and why replace brake fluid and coolant every two years.
Heck, you're not going to keep the car for more than four.

Europeans take care of what they have.  You can see it in their cities,
their forests and parks, and in their cars.  I'm not at all surprised that
their heads have less corrosion than ours.  It's because when the service
manual says to do maintenance, they actually BELIEVE that it makes a
difference, AND IT DOES!
