Dave, I like you, but the fuel lines need to stay where they are. Even though fires are a possibility if folks don't CHANGE THEIR FUEL LINES (sound of me tapping on the Monitor, "Is anybody awake out there!") if you do change them every 5-10 years and check them in between for brittleness, and cracking then you should be OK.

Moving the lines to where you suggest could possibly cause an even worse problem. If you have a leak with lines under the van, forward of the engine, then the fuel leaks out, vaporizes and this vapor is sucked back onto a hot motor by the air moving around the van. Now instead of a fire you have an explosion. Kinda scary. So if you have replaced your lines with good German Line, and some nice clamps that don't cut into the hose then you should be good to go and I wouldn't stay up late at night worrying about it. If you haven't yet, this is not something to put off. I still have the kit available to replace all of the engine compartment fuel lines with German hose and Stainless Swedish fuel line clamps (used on BMWs) and How-To instructions for $53. I put this kit together to specifically encourage folks to change their lines and to make it as easy as possible.

A warning: Don't use NAPA "high pressure" fuel injection hose as I had several instances of it bursting on me this past summer on a customer's van (no fire Praise God!) who had just had it installed only a week prior.

The fuel line kit can be ordered on-line on my website via credit card or by phone (see number below).

No flames please :) Ken Wilford http://www.vanagain.com John 3:16 Office (856)-765-1583 Shop (856)-327-0027 Fax (856)-327-2242
