Ray, there is a certain amount of slack in the system: 2-U Joints, Differentia, 2-CV Joints. When the VC engages, all of these connections suddenly take up the slack. On our Syncros, this can sound like a clang or single loud clunk. So far, I've assumed that this is normal.

Just what R&R work did you do on your VC? This is more than an idle curiosity. The VC on out Westfalia is gone completely. I was counting on Derek Drew and his group purchase arrangement for a new unit. Until that finalizes, I'd like to try to squeeze some more life from the old unit if I can. -Larry '86 Syncro Double Cab (VC works) '86 Syncro Westfalia (VC dead)
