Hi All -

I've been reading the Syncro and Vanagon lists for a month or to now, and would like to express my thanks to the participants for the tremendous knowledge made available. We're looking for a Syncro GL, and I've enough to keep me out of a lot of trouble so far :-)

Starting next Fall, we and our neighbors will start carpooling to school, so we need more seats. My wife loves her Subaru Legacy to death, but it doesn't have enough seats. She is now a rabid AWD fan, but doesn't want an SUV (grew up driving Suburbans, but doesn't want to pay the gas bill). Thus the Vanagon Syncro.

While I have a great love for flat motors (I once owned a Squareback, she drove a Beetle, I now drive a 911 and she a Subaru), but the Wasserboxer seems just too much of a PITA and could use more power. I'm strongly considering the Tii South African 2.0L inline conversion.

We are in search of an 86 to 91 non-Westy Syncro, age less important than mileage and condition. Motor condition unimportant, although not being able to easily test the VC of a non-runner will be an issue. Rebuilt trans a real plus. Within a few hundred miles of Washington DC is good.

Thanks!
