My '90 has a 90 AMP alternator that was in the bus when I got it. Also, I believe many of the other Wassercooled VeeDubs (Golf,Jetta) also had this 90A unit.

You might just be able to pull the old unit out and replace it with the 90A unit. Correct me if I'm wrong folks.
