I am contemplating a preventative engine transplant on my '84 Vanagon with 1.9L engine (most likely original engine that has had a head gasket replacement). Right now everything is fine, but I am reluctant to drive it more than 100 miles from home lest I have a engine failure. If I do the transplant, I want to have as much new as possible in the engine compartment. I know that some transplants leave you with a long block and you need to supply the rest (injectors, etc.) I have asked a couple of the list vendors involved for a list of "the rest" , but none have supplied me with sufficient information to make up a serious parts list. I would appreciate some help on this. I am targeting a May-June time frame for the transplant as I know that I need a new A/C compressor and mounting bracket. John Lauterbach Macon, GA |
