>Why don't volks use the archives. Is accessing them that difficult? If it is >we need to address this problem. I haven't had much luck with searching the archive, and it's very frustrating, because I know that everything I need to know has been discussed on the list. I just can't get to it. When I use the "search" function on the archive page, most of my searches time out with no result being returned. Sometimes it works, like when I searched for some of my own old messages. How embarassing. I usually limit my search to a one year or six month period, for instance, but they still time out. Is there some way for me or the archive manager to make the search time go longer, without timing out so soon? I've used the "search" and "getpost" commands to the listserver with mixed success as well. One search, I got the search listing and then submitted the item numbers, but the messages I received were totally different from the ones in the initial search listing. I just now did a "search" and "getpost" for information about stuck accelerator cables (thanks to Tom Neal, who knows how to spell vangon) and had perfect results. So it goes.
