Amsoil makes different quality lines of oils. While redline makes only a premium line and a race line. Race oils always have less wear because they don't have detergents and other additives that actually cause a bit of wear in their action.

Amsoil makes 4 lines.

XL 7500 - uses an off the shelf additive package, and is no better then any other synthetic really. ( thats my opinion )

The regular synthetic line. This stuff is better then most synthetics on the market, on par with Mobil 1.

Series 2000, better then mobil 1, and much better then other synthetics. On par with redline, though amsoil argues its superior.

You can read redlines side of the debate here...and for amsoil just read their webpage or any brochure from them comparing their oil to redline.

Series 3000 top of the line oil. Additive package is created by Lubrizol, who also provides other additive packages to amsoil. IMHO this is the best oil you can get hands down. However to be cost effective, its best used with a bypass oil filter and extending the oil drain times...
