Hey all! I was replacing my injectors yesterday and I think now I have major trouble. I got 3 of the injectors replaced with no problem in about 20 minutes. When I took out #3 injector I couldn't get the heat shield out. I tried everything, I had a punch and tapped about 300 times lightly around the outside edge of the shield , I scraped with a dental pic around the outside of it , I stuck a punch into the hole and tried to pry it a little bit, which made the hole bigger so I then threaded a 3/8 X3'' BOLT partway into the hole and tried to pull it out with a pair of vice grips, and in between all of the above mentioned I applied carb cleaner and used my brazing torch to add a little heat,( not an acetylene, just bottled mapp gas) . Somewhere towards the end I reached in with a surgical towel clamp that I have modified for removing heatshields :~) and the center of the heat shield fell into the cylinder. Now I don't hardly have anything left to "get under " to pull it out. I think I can get my mag. pickup tool into there and get the pieces out, after I figure out how to get the rest of the heat shield out of the head...any suggestions? I drive this rabbit every day, about 120 miles , so I really need to get it going again ASAP . Feel free to P-mail me as often times I don't get this digest version until 8-10 p.m. P.S. I'm even willing to try some snake oil to loosen this enough to get it out. I put some of my best gun cleaner on it tonight ( used for cleaning skeet guns w/ lots of buildup) hoping by a.m. it will do something! I remember a post about this within the last 6 months but couldn't find it in the archives. Tom
