Brent, if your vehicle was originally from Canada, then I think I know what this thing is.

On Canadian Syncros the Webasto heater was an option. This heater has a small fuel pump that is located just front of the LHS rear wheel well. It would have a fuel line "T" on the main fuel line from the tank, a small fuel line going to the LHS rear engine compartment, and two electrical lines to power the pump.

If I'm right, you may find some other strange stuff : a control unit behind the LHS rear tail light, a monovalve in the coolant line on the rear RHS of the engine compartment, and maybe the heater itself located on the LHS rear of the engine compartment.

But that is getting into wishful thinking because I'm currently looking for a part from that heater unit. (Webasto BBW-46) Larry
