Subject: '87 gl tranny mount & air conditioner questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello Listees,

First off, I have a new 5-speed tranny coming my way. It will have a conventional bellhousing (not SA) on it. My question is: what do I need to do to the front mount? I've read somewhere that it needs to be shortened about 1.5 inches. Is it because the housing is 1.5 inches longer? Will the Diesel 5-speed mount work (#251-399-241M I think)? I did a search at the BusDepot with no luck. Is the Diesel 5-speed unique (other than gearing)?

Second subject, does anyone know what all is entailed to convert to the newer air-conditioner medium? I can't find the number right now. I have to purge my system so I see this as an opportunity to upgrade. I also think I read that I should replace the receiver/dryer? Is this necessary or recommended? What is the logic? Availability? Price? What else should I be aware of?

So many questions. So many gaps to fill. So glad for "The List".

Thanks in advance,

Arlen
